Partnership and Books-A-Million partner for holiday book drive

A special holiday tradition continues this year as the Randolph County Partnership for Children kicks off its annual holiday book drive with Books-A-Million, located at Randolph Mall.

Starting on Monday, November 17, and running through Sunday, December 21, customers can purchase books to benefit the holiday book drive and bring the joy of reading to children for the holidays. Donations collected for the book drive will directly benefit our local community, so your gift will make a real difference right here at home.

Here’s how the drive works. Store staff will encourage customers to give a new book to local children. Customers select the books they want to donate, and then pay for the books at the register. The books are then picked up by the Partnership and distributed to children in Randolph County through home-visiting programs, community events, local pediatrician’s offices and through community agencies.

“Putting books in children's hands encourages early reading and development,” said Partnership executive director, Pauline McKee. “Our goal is to encourage a love of reading by increasing the number of books that get into the hands of local children.”

Last year, more than 1,500 books were collected and distributed to children in need. With the community’s help, the Partnership and BAM hope to collect more than 2,000 books during this year’s drive.
