Mixed Media Explorations
On February 3, children from some of the centers came to the Randolph Senior Adults Center to meet and have hands on time with master teachers Kimberly English, Flavia Nazareth, and Joseph Sand. Their time was spent using new types of materials, such as bleeding tissue, clay, and yarn, with new techniques. A fun time was had by all and the children were very excited about their new masterpieces.

This opportunity was made possible by a grant from the Randolph Arts Guild, which also provided training for our Early Childhood Educators and extra materials for the teachers to take back to their classrooms.
Welcome Sandy!
The Partnership is delighted to welcome Sandy Johnson to our team as the new Early Childhood Specialist, now that Kristy Umfleet has moved into the Director or Child Care Services. Sandy brings 35 years of experience in early care and education and wealth of knowledge to our childcare centers.

Prior to joining us, Sandy worked as the director of a five-star Reggio inspired child care center that was a Model Learning Site and Demonstration Site for Shape NC. She is a graduate of Greensboro Col where she earned her degree in Christian Education with a concentration in Special Education. We are confident that Sandy's knowledge and experience will help continue our dedicated support to centers so they can continue providing high-quality care for the young children of Randolph County.
We're thrilled to share the latest news about the 2023 Pete the Cat: Gala for the Children. The evening's entertainment will be provided by Tyler Millard Music.
The event that night will be catered by Black Powder Smokehouse, so look forward to some tasty BBQ cooked "low-n-slow". With our larger venue this year we're happy to offer tickets for purchase at one for $65 or two for $100.

We hope to see you Saturday, April 29, at 6:00 PM at the Historic Luck's Cannery in Seagrove!
We have some amazing training opportunities coming up for our Early Childhood Education professionals. See below for highlights.
3/9 - ECERS: Using the ECERS Tool to Ensure High Quality Care Everyday
This training is designed to educate and prepare mentor teachers who will then support other early educators in preparing for the environmental rating scale assessments. Programs should identify one or two mentor teachers who will then provide support to other teaching staff within their own program. Information on how to score the rating scale will be provided. Participants are asked to have a copy of the book with them at the training. This training will be focused on what quality care looks like every day in infant, toddler, preschool and school-age classrooms.

3/23 - Little Sprouts Gardening Fun
Students will eat what they grow! School gardens are an excellent tool for experiential learning and nutrition education. In this hands-on workshop, early care and education professionals will be trained to establish farm to school gardens and to integrate gardening into state and national curriculum.

We will share resources to create or expand your garden program as well as tips and strategies for gardening with young children. We emphasize how to sustain a garden program by involving community partners, such as parents, farmers, college students, and agricultural professionals.
