Great Beginnings. Strong Futures.

Our world is super busy, and keeping our children mentally healthy is super important. For National Mental Wellness Month, we have gathered some easy tips for parents and caregivers to help children feel good. We want our children to feel good in their brains as well as their bodies. Emotional resilience is important for success later in life.

Mental wellness means children feel good inside, not just being without sickness. It’s about being able to enjoy life, get through tough times, and do fun activities. Helping children with this early on is key for them to be mentally healthy when they grow up.

Good sleep is super important for how children feel and think. Having a bedtime routine and a calm place to sleep can help. Try to keep the same sleep time every night, even on weekends, to help their bodies know when it’s time to sleep.

Having a regular family schedule makes children feel safe and less worried. Making a schedule that works for everyone in the family is important. Eating together, doing stuff together, and having a set time for bed can help everyone feel good.

What children eat affects their mood and brain. Eating lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains is good for them. Getting children to help make meals can also make them want to eat healthier.
Children need to talk about how they feel. Doing things like drawing, telling stories, or just talking about their day can help with this. Playtime is also important for learning and relaxing. Letting children have both planned activities and free play time lets them explore and learn in their own way.

Teaching children to breathe deeply, do yoga, or meditate can help them handle stress and feelings better. These things help them focus and feel calm, which is good for their mental health.

By doing these things every day, we can help our children’ mental wellness. Every little thing we do helps them grow into strong, happy people.
