NC Pre-K

NC Pre-K ProgramThe North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Program (NC Pre-K) is a preschool program for children who may otherwise not have access to the preschool experience. The program provides preschoolers with curriculum-based, age-appropriate programming that enhances cognitive, social and emotional growth in preparation for elementary school.

Registration for NC Pre-K is ongoing throughout the year. There are 376 available slots in Randolph County for sites in Asheboro, Trinity, Level Cross, Liberty, Ramseur, and Randleman (locations subject to change). 2022-23 school year classrooms are located at the following sites:

  • Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) of Asheboro City Schools
  • First Steps Early Learning Center
  • Randleman Enrichment Center
  • Level Cross Elementary School
  • Liberty Elementary School
  • Southmont Elementary School
  • Trindale Elementary School
  • Tabernacle Elementary School
  • Ramseur Elementary School
  • Connie Redding Head Start
  • North Asheboro Head Start

Completed paper applications can be emailed with copies of required documents (as attachments) to hsemler@randolphkids.org or dropped in the drop box outside our office at 349 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. See below for online and additional application options.

Cost

This is a free program.

Eligibility

Your child must be 4 years old by August 31 and meet one of the following three criteria:

  • Family income is at or below 75% of the State Median Income (SMI)
  • Child diagnosed with a special need
  • Parent actively serving in the military and called to active duty within the past 18 months or who was seriously injured or killed while on active duty

Certified Birth Certificates for children born in Randolph County, NC can be ordered online through the Randolph County Register of Deeds Office.

NC Pre-K classes are available throughout Randolph County in select public school, private child care, and Head Start facilities.

There are three ways to apply:
