NC Pre-K

NC Pre-K ProgramThe North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Program (NC Pre-K) is a preschool program for children who may otherwise not have access to the preschool experience. The part-day program provides preschoolers with curriculum-based, age-appropriate programming that enhances cognitive, social and emotional growth in preparation for elementary school.


While RPC offices are closed to the public, parents can drop off applications and have copies made of supporting documents on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and on Tuesdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Follow the signs to the back of the building to the covered entrance. Park and stay in your car. Call 336-629-2128. A staff member will come and assist you.

This is a free program.


Your child must be 4 years old by August 31 and meet one of the following three criteria:

  • Family income is at or below 75% of the State Median Income (SMI)
  • Child diagnosed with a special need
  • Parent actively serving in the military and called to active duty within the past 18 months or who was seriously injured or killed while on active duty
