Great Beginnings. Strong Futures.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a new book each month directly to your child. The first book your child will receive upon enrollment in the program is “The Little Engine that Could” by Watty Piper. Then, each month, a new age-appropriate book will arrive. The last book your child will receive when they turn 5 years old is “Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come” by Nancy Carlson. The Imagination Library inspires a lifelong love of reading while ensuring young children have the opportunity to build a personal library at home.

Celebrate Dolly’s Legacy — Join Us September 25

Dolly Parton believed every child deserves a book. Here in Randolph County, her dream lives on through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library — and on Friday, September 25, we’re celebrating her legacy and the children she loved.

Join us for Live Like Dolly, a free drop-in event from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Randolph Partnership for Children in downtown Asheboro. Come celebrate, connect with your community, and help us do something Dolly would love.

Our goals for the evening:
Kick off an enrollment push to get 50% of eligible Randolph County children in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library by April 16, 2027, and raise $1,500 to sponsor 50 children for a full year of free books at $30 each — with donor matching up to $1,600. That’s a possibility of supporting over 100 children for a year!

Support

Want to help put free books in the hands of Randolph County children? The North Carolina Legislature has allocated funds for the majority of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, but local support makes the difference for families who might otherwise be missed. Your gift helps cover book and shipping costs and keeps enrollment open for every child from birth to age five. Together, we can make sure no child in Randolph County misses out on the joy of reading.
