Books, adventures, and activities for Randolph County families this June
School’s out — and summer in Randolph County is full of ways to keep kids learning, reading, and having fun. The best part? Most of it is free. Here’s a look at what’s happening this June for families with young children.

Free Book Friday at Goodwill
Every Friday this summer, kids can walk into a Goodwill store in Randolph County and pick out a free book to take home. No sign-up needed. No cost. Just a great book for a growing mind.
Free Book Friday is a partnership between Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina and The Basics Randolph — an initiative of the Randolph Partnership for Children (RPC) — along with The Basics Guilford and The Basics Alamance, who are bringing the same program to families in Guilford and Alamance counties.
Books build brains. And these early years — before a child turns five — are when reading together makes the biggest difference. Stop by your local Goodwill any Friday in June and let your child choose their next story.

Adventures on the Go!
Adventures on the Go! is Randolph Partnership for Children’s mobile outreach program. Our suv, Gracie, rolls into neighborhoods across Randolph County to bring books, activities, and community resources right to families — no travel required.
This summer, Gracie will be making stops throughout June.
Adventures on the Go! is designed to meet families where they are — especially in areas where getting to programs can be a challenge. If you see Gracie in your neighborhood, stop and say hello!
Follow us on Facebook to find out where Gracie will be. And a big thank you to Toyota North Carolina for making this program possible.

Summer Reading at the Randolph County Public Library
The Asheboro Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is a great way for kids to keep reading all summer long. The program includes fun challenges, prizes, and activities for children of all ages.
Summer slide — when children lose reading progress over the summer — is real. But it’s also preventable. Even 15 minutes of reading a day can make a big difference. Between Free Book Friday, Adventures on the Go!, and the library’s program, there’s no shortage of ways to keep the pages turning this summer.
Find out MoreSummer is short — but the habits families build together last. Reading together, exploring together, and staying connected to community resources are all part of what it means for Randolph County children to thrive.
Follow Randolph Partnership for Children on Facebook for weekly updates on everything happening this summer. We’ll see you out there!
