Open, honest communication between early childhood programs and the families they serve is the cornerstone of a healthy, trusting relationship. But what happens when a difficult conversation can no longer be avoided? Appropriate Expectations: Difficult Conversations with Parents and Guardians is a practical, skills-based workshop designed to help early childhood educators and childcare professionals navigate those challenging moments with confidence, compassion, and clarity.

Avoiding difficult conversations does not make problems go away — in fact, it can damage the trust between educators and families and ultimately do a disservice to the young children in our care. This workshop empowers participants to approach hard topics with the skills, strategies, and mindset needed to communicate effectively while preserving and strengthening the school-to-home relationship.

Participants will leave this workshop with practical tools and techniques for initiating and navigating difficult conversations with parents and guardians, setting appropriate expectations, and fostering a culture of open, respectful communication within their early childhood program.

Whether you are a classroom teacher, childcare provider, director, or administrator, this training offers valuable insight and actionable strategies that can be put to use immediately in your program.
